Jimmie Johnson was recently asked how he would beat the 48 Team and its driver Jimmie Johnson.
His reply was: “I don’t even know how I’ve been doing it, so I don’t know how to beat it. I know that I give everything that I can to make team and my sport. I know that Chad does. I know my guys do. Thankfully we have great communication skills, all the tools that Rick provides, all the stuff we’re talking about week in and week out.
I boil it down to a commitment from myself and from my teammates. The commitment that we have made to this race team has made the difference over the last four years. As long as that commitment’s there, I will be proud of whatever the results are. That’s the bottom line. I know at some point we’re going to get beat. It’s going to happen. I’m more aware of that than anyone else. I don’t want it to be anytime soon. As long as I leave this season saying we’re fully committed, I won’t be happy, but I’ll be content, I’ll be good about the season.”

Special 75th Anniversary Edition of the Chevrolet Suburban coming this Summer

General Motors will be announcing, in Chicago, a new special edition for the Chevrolet Suburban to commemorate its 75-year production run. The Suburban debuted in the early 1930's, during the Great Depression. GM says that the Suburban is the longest-running production nameplate in the history of the automotive industry.
The idea of the Suburban came from the theory that people were looking for a truck based, heavy duty wagon. At the time nearly all wagon-type vehicles were more car-like and lacked utility that many people were looking for.
Chevrolet did several experiments and finally came up with an all-steel body that was mounted on a commercial chassis. The combination allowed for the first Suburban to seat eight people and all of the rear seats were entirely removable.
Most of the features of the original Suburban are still in the modern day version of today’s model. Sometime this summer the 2010 Suburban will run a 75th Anniversary Diamond Edition model. The Diamond Edition will have a trim level that will be unique with 20" chrome wheels, unique chromed roof rack, White Diamond Tricoat and cashmere interior.
There will be only 2,570 Diamond Edition models produced and all will be a sport LTZ trim level equipment.

Jimmie Johnson Chevrolet of San Diego would like to congratulate three of our customers, Richard Raher, Randy Bosch and Mary Adams. During the first two weeks of December, these three along with many others test drove one of our vehicles which gave them the opportunity to win free tickets to a live broadcast of the Fox NFL Pre-Game show. These three were the winners and they got to attended the Fox NFL Pre-Game show with Howie Long and the rest of the Fox Sports Broadcast Team which aired Sunday December 20th.
Not only did they get to attend the show but they also had the opportunity to hang out with the broadcast team during the lunch break and then watch the different games being televised on twelve wide screen televisions in the studio. From all the pictures that I saw it looked like everyone had a very good time.

Sporting News selects Chad Knaus as one of NASCAR’s 50 Most Beautiful People

Chad Knaus, four-time NASCAR Cup championship crew chief with the No. 48 Hendrick Motorsports team of Jimmie Johnson was selected among the 50 Most Beautiful People by Sporting News. The special edition of the magazine, which features all 50 selected, is now available on newsstands
In the magazine Chad tells a little about himself. His first job was washing cars in a used car dealership and then he worked in a detail shop. His pet peeve is things not kept clean. “I like things to be clean and neat and orderly. I’m a little anal retentive, a little type-A”. He says his job is everything that he lives for. In ten years he would like to be married with children and still involved in racing.

The new 2010 Chevrolet Camaro has been a hot item ever since it came out this year. Most every Camaro that we have received was a pre-order which meant that it was sold before it even got to our lot. The 2010 Chevrolet Camaro performance coupe is available in five trim levels: base LS, 1LT, 2LT, 1SS and 2SS. The first three come with the V6, while the latter two get the V8. Standard equipment for the base LS includes 18-inch black "Heritage" steel wheels, keyless entry, cloth upholstery, front bucket seats with power-reclining seatbacks, a tilt/telescoping steering wheel, air-conditioning, cruise control and a CD/MP3 audio system with satellite radio and an auxiliary audio jack. The 1LT adds foglamps, 18-inch alloy wheels and a six-way power driver seat. The 2LT adds 19-inch alloy wheels, heated side mirrors, auto-dimming functionality for the driver-side and interior mirrors, additional auxiliary gauges, remote engine start (automatic transmission only), leather upholstery, heated power front seats and a Boston Acoustics sound system with steering-wheel-mounted controls, a USB audio interface and Bluetooth.

My wife and I have lived in San Diego for over 35 years. We have considered moving, but we have never found a place that is as beautiful as San Diego. Here in San Diego County we have some of the most beautiful beaches, the desert is only an hour away, and we also have the mountains with its beautiful pine and oak trees. We recently moved to the small historic town of Julian in the San Diego mountains. I have to say that the drive coming down the hill is so much better than the Freeways of San Diego. If I had one complaint about San Diego it would be the heavy traffic that has occurred over the years because of so many people moving here. Other than that, nothing can beat San Diego.
Working in San Diego can be fun also. I must say that working for Jimmie Johnson Chevrolet is a lot of fun. We have some really good people that are a part of the team here. The whole Hendrick Automotive Organization is a great company to work for. The integrity and the care for its employees flows down from the very top starting with Rick Hendrick. When Rick or Jimmie Johnson do stop by (which is not too often due to their busy schedules) they always show an interest in each of the many employees we have. I usually follow them around while they are here (taking pictures) and I see first hand the respect they show to each person that they meet.

San Diego Chargers lose to the Denver Broncos on Monday Night Football

I can just imagine how many disappointed Charger fans there are through out San Diego County this morning. The Chargers experienced a tough loss to the Denver Broncos last night on Monday Night Football. Their offense played well but not good enough. They got into the Red zone several times but were held to mostly field goals instead of touch downs. The big disappointment of the night was the special teams unit with three major mistakes. Two of those mistakes resulted in touch downs for Denver.
The good news of the situation is that the season is still young and there is a lot more football left to play. The Chargers for the last several seasons have been known for their slow starts. Let just hope that this is one of those typical seasons and the Chargers will literally get the ball moving through out the rest of their games.
The Charger fans are disappointed but there are a few Denver Bronco fans (even here in San Diego) that are feeling the glory as their Broncos are undefeated in league play. I know we have a few Bronco fans right here at Jimmie Johnson Chevrolet in Kearny Mesa of San Diego. So it seems that today they will have the bragging rights and us Chargers fans will just have to keep quiet and endure the comments.

I am adding a personal touch to the blog for today and it’s all about my HHR. I remember several years ago when the HHR was first being introduced to the Chevy dealers just before their release. I saw the brochure and said to myself. “I want one of those” Several years later when it came time for a new vehicle I started getting serious about the HHR. The only problem was that was wife was also in the market for a new car and she hadn’t thought of the HHR until I brought here down to the lot to check it out. Well she fell in love with everything about the HHR and bought one right away. It left me hanging because I started thinking what car was I now going to get since she already got the HHR. After much discussion she finally suggested that I just go ahead and get an HHR also. After giving it some thought I said “Why not?” So we bought our second HHR. Both of them we purchased from Jimmie Johnson Chevrolet in Kearny Mesa.
So now we have HIS and HER HHRs. It has been almost two years and we both are still very satisfied with our purchases. I have always described the HHR as the Big- Little car. It rides like a big car but gets gas mileage like a small car. It has a ton of room for carrying just about anything. It a regular work horse but it’s comfortable and good looking.

General Motors announced that the Chevrolet Volt rechargeable electric car should get 230 miles per gallon of gasoline in city driving. That is more than four times the mileage of the Toyota Prius. If this figure is confirmed by the EPA, the Volt would be the first car to exceed triple-digit gas mileage.
The Volt is due in showrooms sometime in late 2010. The first-generation Volt is expected to cost near $40,000, but the price is expected to go down with future generations of the Volt. GM thinks that at 230 miles per gallon and with government tax credits the Volt could still be very cost-effective.
The Volt is powered by an electric motor and a battery pack with a 40-mile range. After that, a small internal combustion engine kicks in to generate electricity for a total range of 300 miles. The battery pack can be recharged from a standard home outlet. GM is running tests to make sure the new lithium-ion batteries last at least 10 years.

I told you that in the next blog I would give a little background about the other member of our new team of Sales Associates. That member is Maggie Clemens, who is a part of the team of Maggie and Janine. We are excited to have both them with us here at Jimmie Johnson Chevrolet of Kearny Mesa of San Diego. I’ll tell you with these two around there is never a dull moment. They both know how to have fun yet they still maintain an era of professionalism. My personal motto is to enjoy everyday as if it was my last!!
I joined the Navy out of High School, and was very mad initially when I was sent to San Diego! I had wanted to see the world, and get a degree in the process! But all that changed when I landed here! The harbor, the palm trees, warm air, how could a nineteen year old from Chicago not fall in love with this city?? I have been a DIEHARD San Diegan ever since.
I did get the degree: B.S. in Computer Science. National University 1986.
But after working in that field for a few years, I turned to sales! I was one of the strange ones who had always wanted to be in sales. I love it to this day! It’s not the people I work with that make it fun, although that doesn’t hurt, but it is the customers that I enjoy the most! To me it is fun getting to know people and what makes them who they are. I have always tried to treat my customers as I would want to be treated, that has made it not only a good experience, but one of mutual respect.
I am currently single, recently divorced from a wonderful man: Bob Dipple. While any divorce is painful, ours was very amicable. And although I lost a husband, I know that I have gained a truly great friend!
When I am not at work trying to sell cars, I have three great passions in life: Yoga – which I don’t do enough of. Hiking – it is not unusual to find me on Cowles Mtn 3 -4 days a week. And golfing – while I play most of the county courses, Coronado is the one I play most often.
I have formed a partnership at work with Janine Richardson. Working side by side for almost ten years has probably given her gray hair, but it has been a true blessing in my life! Plan on hearing a lot more from Team Maggie & Janine in the future!

It is a great pleasure to welcome Maggie Clemens and Janine Richardson, a brand new team to the Internet Department, here at Jimmie Johnson Chevrolet. They have been in the car business for a long time and have worked together as a team for about the last ten years.
Today I will give a little introduction for Janine. From the webpage and blog page of Maggie&Janine.com, Janine describes herself this way;
I was born in San Diego, California in 1965. I have two older brothers and one younger sister. Being a kid in Southern California was a wonderful experience. Hot sunny days at the bay with my family. Roller skating (pre-roller blades) on the boardwalk from P.B. to O.B. all summer long. My teenage years were spent at the beach with my friends, Mexico with my dad, and seeing who could get the darkest tan.
I stayed here in beautiful San Diego, and currently live in Bonita with my husband Scot of 16 years and our three sons, James 19, Billy 15, and Drew 13. There is never a dull moment, and I’m OK being the only female in a house full of boys. Even the cat is a boy!
I was a stay at home mom for five years while our boys were little. After several jobs in retail sales management and commission sales, I fell into car sales by accident. It took me nearly 6 months to figure out what I was doing. After the first year, I became Maggie Clemens’ partner in Internet Car Sales. She was a great influence and mentor. She taught me it’s not about what you sell, it’s about how you treat your customers. Since then, sales have become as natural as breathing to me and I really enjoy taking what is normally a painful process, and making it a fun one.
Maggie and I have worked together for almost 10 years now. The two of us have formed an incredible friendship. We work well as a team, and our customers know they can talk to either of us, at any time. We plan to stay together as a team for many years to come.
Again we want to welcome Maggie and Janine and in the next Jimmie Johnson blog I’ll give you a little background about Maggie.

We just wanted to let you know that we have produced a new TV commercial. Richard Farler, the General Sales Manager here at Jimmie Johnson Chevrolet, was the spokeman for the commercial. Tony Stewart/Hendrickcars.com No. 80 at Jimmie Johnson Chevrolet
The No. 80 HendrickCars.com race car was here this past Tuesday. Donnie Gillispie, Show car Representative, for Hendrick Motorsports was here with the No. 80 car that Tony Stewart drove to victory at the season opening Daytona Nationwide Race. The beauty of the car and the noise of the engine drew a crowd that came for a close up look at the Hendrick No. 80 car.
Donnie did an excellent job in presenting the car to the many who stopped by. He answered all of their questions and even posed for some pictures during the day. He says that he enjoys his job very much. The opportunity to travel the country while transporting some of the most popular race cars from the Hendrick Motorsports stable is just a great way to make a living. One of the greatest things about his job is meeting so many interesting people along the way.

2010 Chevy Camaro has arrived at Jimmie Johnson Chevrolet

I came across an interesting article in regards to a tax deduction when you buy a new car. It is in regards to a scaled back version of the Auto Assistance Ownership amendment that has been approved by President Obama in the final economic stimulus package. This amendment provides tax breaks for new vehicle buyers by giving them a federal-income-tax deduction on local sales and excise taxes. It gives the opportunity for taxpayers to buy now and get cash back later on their 2009 tax returns. It is for any new vehicle purchased after Feb 17th 2009 (the date the stimulus bill was signed into law).
Here is a summary of the eligibility criteria found in recent IRS press releases:
1. The deduction is limited to the state and local sales and excise taxes paid on up to $49,500 of the purchase price of a qualified new foreign or domestic cars, SUV's, light trucks, motor homes or motorcycles that weigh no more than 8,500 pounds. You can still buy a qualifying vehicle for more than $49,500 but you will only get a tax deduction up to the specified limit.
2. The deduction is only available to families making less than $260,000 or $135,000 for singles. It is phased out for taxpayers whose modified adjusted gross income is between $125,000 and $135,000 for individual filers and between $250,000 and $260,000 for joint filers.
3. The new vehicle must be purchased on or after Feb. 17, 2009, and before Jan. 1, 2010, to qualify for the deduction. Purchases before Feb. 17, 2009, are not eligible for this special deduction.
4. The deduction is available regardless of whether a taxpayer itemizes deductions on their return (Schedule A). The deduction cannot be taken on 2008 tax returns (even if they are amended or filed late). Also, unlike other tax credits in the economic stimulus package this tax break is not an offset to your federal taxes (i.e. a tax credit), it is a deduction against your taxable income.
